After a dominant win in Buffalo, the Colorado Mammoth find themselves exactly where they wanted to be.

Colorado’s defense shined in a 12-8 victory over the reigning NLL East Division Champion. The Buffalo Bandits’ offense was held scoreless throughout the first quarter and well into the second. Last year’s league MVP, Dhane Smith, was shut down completely as he was limited to only one goal in the contest.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Mammoth got off to a relatively slow start, scoring only three goals in the first quarter. However, the offense stayed fairly consistent throughout the game, scoring three goals in the second quarter, four in the third, and two in the fourth.

Although the Bandits mounted a late comeback, Colorado never lost control of their lead on their way to a four-point victory on the banks of Lake Erie.

The win rightfully gives Colorado loads of confidence heading into week two. And as if the win alone wasn’t enough, the Mammoth’s major offseason move seems to be panning out as well. Zack Greer led the team with three goals in the season opener. Greer was acquired from Saskatchewan in exchange for Adam Jones back in September.

The Mammoth will look to build on this momentum on January 7th at the Pepsi Center. Colorado will host Vancouver in this season’s home opener. This will be the first of four meetings between the Mammoth and the Stealth in 2017.
